2017

We move forward from two successful exhibitions in 2016 in Prague and in the USA to the challenge of an exhibition in the Netherlands in the Autumn. We continue to work on A2 sized pieces in portrait format and will be producing four pieces over the year with the theme of 'Freedom'. An essential part of our art is working in series to a common format which does give us all a framework for our creative endeavours.

 Voyage Art 6
Tcherot 2- 'Suspended Animation'

Kenya is to have a general election in March. The country is still suffering from the repercussions of the post election violence experienced after the last polls. As a result the country is holding it's breath, dreading that the violence could recur. My quilt is a talisman to bring peace, harmony and calm to the forth coming elections.

I have used a frame of bark cloth, sourced from Uganda, 'tied' using brass beads made in Northern Kenya.
The small talisman are made from vegetable dyed cotton sourced from West Africa. They are machine quilted using metallic and rayon threads. The embellishments are bone and brass sourced locally. They are suspended within the frame using embroidery thread.
