2017

We move forward from two successful exhibitions in 2016 in Prague and in the USA to the challenge of an exhibition in the Netherlands in the Autumn. We continue to work on A2 sized pieces in portrait format and will be producing four pieces over the year with the theme of 'Freedom'. An essential part of our art is working in series to a common format which does give us all a framework for our creative endeavours.

Snowflakes

top detail

Bottom detail
Here is the last of my 2012 pieces. I finished it a couple of weeks ago, but just had time to post it.

The fabric is dyed with Tanic Acid/Caustic Soda with 3 dips in different ways, then discharged with lemon juice using some stamps I made in class. The bottom is dyed with indigo, and I love the way the two dyes combine for the violet blend. It reminds me of the winter skyes here in Vancouver.

I embroidered the other snowflakes using various metalic threads I have, and the quilting is done with cotton wadding and backed with more Tannic Acid/Indigo dyed cloth. All in all, I am satisfied with the piece and looking forward to this years challenges.

  2. Trish - this really is wonderful. It's great to see your progress, the dyeing and stamping etc. Sitting in hot and humid Accra - it does seem odd looking at snowflakes, especially ones created by you! Looks like we'll be going home to snow! M
