This is my final post for the 2012 blog. As I mentioned in my earlier e-mail to the group, I was sure that I had made all six entries for 2012, only to find as I was cataloging my photographs that I had only made five pieces. "Summer Storm" is entry number six. It was inspired by our summer "monsoon" storms in Arizona that usually bring lots of drama and little rain. The clouds are hand felted with wool roving. I used commercially dyed fabrics for the mountains and sky. The first two photographs are detail views and the third photograph is the full piece. Now I can move on to my 2013 series.
Voyage – A group of textiles artists drawn together from around the world who vary in both their experience and in the nature of expression of their art. Their work broadly encompasses the understanding of a quilt in its loosest form. We exist as a virtual group on the internet, posting our work on the blog and communicating via a group site to enable us to share our work and exhibit.
2017
We move forward from two successful exhibitions in 2016 in Prague and in the USA to the challenge of an exhibition in the Netherlands in the Autumn. We continue to work on A2 sized pieces in portrait format and will be producing four pieces over the year with the theme of 'Freedom'. An essential part of our art is working in series to a common format which does give us all a framework for our creative endeavours.
A great combination of the felting and piecing Frances. There is so much movement in the clouds and they appear very menacing! A very clever and unusual piece. The fabric top left makes one think that kinder weather is coming.
ReplyDeleteA beautiful piece Elaine. A lot going on - but certainly not crowded.
