We move forward from two successful exhibitions in 2016 in Prague and in the USA to the challenge of an exhibition in the Netherlands in the Autumn. We continue to work on A2 sized pieces in portrait format and will be producing four pieces over the year with the theme of 'Freedom'. An essential part of our art is working in series to a common format which does give us all a framework for our creative endeavours.

Paula Rafferty first A2 Quilt of 2015

Thrilled to be a member of the group and delighted to be able to show the first of four A4 quilts for the "Abstracted Nature" theme.
Feel like I'm cheating a little as I already had this started for another project but decided to use it for this group.

This is an image of the earth from the air, played with in photoshop and printed on a large format printer.
I love the secondary images that are created when the original is flipped and repeated.
I see all sorts of crazy stuff in it so didn't want to quilt to densely to allow the viewer to explore some of the patterns and shapes.

Hope someone else can see the crazy faces or I'm in real trouble!!

Heres a close up;

For the next one I'm using cloud formations.

  1. Well done Paula for getting your first done so soon! Flipping the image has worked really well - I can see the faces in the piece - works well in mainly monochrome.

  2. Faces? What Faces? hmmmm nope it's just you! LOL!! Seriously though, it is really interesting and I had fun looking for the faces - and finding some by the way! I love they mirror image effect! Can hardly wait to see your other works! Such a welcome addition to the group!
