2017

We move forward from two successful exhibitions in 2016 in Prague and in the USA to the challenge of an exhibition in the Netherlands in the Autumn. We continue to work on A2 sized pieces in portrait format and will be producing four pieces over the year with the theme of 'Freedom'. An essential part of our art is working in series to a common format which does give us all a framework for our creative endeavours.

This is my first piece for 2013. My theme is “art using natural elements found in nature”.
This one is based on sand drawings that we often see on the beach while going for a walk!  Kids and adults love to draw messages and pictures in the sand. Its lots of fun and we often see some very interesting art works. This one is very simplistic.
Being in touch with nature is also very good for the body and the soul. It helps reduce stress, makes you happy, helps makes you more creative, improves your memory and in general makes you a better person.
I have quilted some of these words in the heart!  I have also tried to do a slightly different quilting design in each square to try and improve my creativity and LOVED making this piece!

  1. Excellent piece Margie. Great colours and the quilting is great too. There's a lot ot look at and study - trying to pick out all the words that you've used. Well done and welcome

  2. This is lovely! Texture, shapes words, almost as if the sea is just going to wash out the writing in the sand but the strong meaning remaims.

  3. Beautiful colours and quilting, Margie. Looks like your free motion quilting was on a roll! It's such a great skill to master and adds so much to a piece. Welcome to our group from me too.
