2017

We move forward from two successful exhibitions in 2016 in Prague and in the USA to the challenge of an exhibition in the Netherlands in the Autumn. We continue to work on A2 sized pieces in portrait format and will be producing four pieces over the year with the theme of 'Freedom'. An essential part of our art is working in series to a common format which does give us all a framework for our creative endeavours.

Bamboo No. 1

Here is the first of my "Bamboo" series for 2013.  I am basing my series on the bamboo plant in my living room window.  This first piece was assembled using fused applique.  I did some layering with organza strips in the background and on the yellow leaf in the foreground.  I particularly enjoy the green leaf and transitions to brown and yellow at the tip since my poor plant looks like this during the summer when it is hot and dry outside and the air conditioning makes it hard to keep the plants watered inside.

  1. I love your colour combinations, and the quilting really enhances the design

  2. The shape of the leaves is very pleasing. I'm fascinated by the circles in the background;are they something you can see through your window? Elaine.

  3. Beautiful lines and shapes. It will be interesting to see the different pieces that emerge from this subject.

  4. Lovely shapes. the brown edged leaf is particularly well done. I also wonder what the circles in the background are? Something through the window or a bit of whimsey?
