2017

We move forward from two successful exhibitions in 2016 in Prague and in the USA to the challenge of an exhibition in the Netherlands in the Autumn. We continue to work on A2 sized pieces in portrait format and will be producing four pieces over the year with the theme of 'Freedom'. An essential part of our art is working in series to a common format which does give us all a framework for our creative endeavours.

At last here is Voyage 3 for me - so far I've not found a title for it.  The lime green with the orange worm like design is ny own hand printed fabric - using an old printing block form the African Wax Print Industry.   The other fabrics are kola and indigo dyed by my friend Musa Jaiteh.  I'm very pleased with the edging - I didn't want to use binding and am still not that good at zig-zagging the edge but I feel I did a pretty good job this time!   I may well add some handstitching in the 'worms' in an effort to make them look more like leaves!  Also - we have 'shrunk in the wash' a little!  When it comes to the crunch - you guys may decide I have to do another one...

  1. What a great use of colours, Magie. Good on you to have finished the quilt in spite of your problems with the chest muscles. I think hand stitching on the "worms" will add another dimension.
