2013 Moving forward

Moving forward..........

The intention of the theme in 2012 was to allow individuals to develop their work freely from whatever point they were currently at –without constraint but with a light touch framework to work within. It was hoped (and it proved to be the case!) that the theme helped us communicate with each other something about ourselves through our work and our intentions.

Moving forward into 2013 from this starting point we are choosing to work individually over the year on a series of work of our own choosing whether that series be related to a specific theme or process or design approach.

As in 2012 every two months a piece of work will be produced, starting January 2013. Size of the work for 2013 will be A3 (30x42 cm approx or 12x17inches) either portrait or landscape.

Last piece for this year

To be honest my last piece for this year has been finished some time ago, but I forgot to upload it. For the background I used a very busy complex cloth which I created in a workshop with Jane Dunnewold. I sliced the fabric and stitched very thin strips of dark grey fabric in between. This I repeated till I was happy with the result. On top of it I appliqued my favorite flower the poppy.
Working with the theme given for this year was for me rather difficult. I prefer to have a more clear cut theme. For coming year my theme will be trees.

  1. My favorite flower too Wil, it is beautiful. Love the background. Happy Holidays to you and yours.

  2. That background fabric is really interesting Wil and I love what you have done with the intersecting lines-à la Kathy Loomis? Look forward to seeing your "trees" and perhaps to meeting you in 2013? Hope so, Elaine.
