The fabric was coloured with procion dyes and some wax pigments then over laid with the 'fragments' of organza and painted and distressed fusible web. The 'glimmers' were scraps of gold leaf applied with ormaline.
The work of a group of textile artists drawn from around the world who vary in both their experience and in the nature of expression of their art. Their work broadly encompasses the understanding of a quilt in its loosest form.
2013 Moving forward
Moving forward..........
The intention of the theme in 2012 was to allow individuals to develop their work freely from whatever point they were currently at –without constraint but with a light touch framework to work within. It was hoped (and it proved to be the case!) that the theme helped us communicate with each other something about ourselves through our work and our intentions.
Moving forward into 2013 from this starting point we are choosing to work individually over the year on a series of work of our own choosing whether that series be related to a specific theme or process or design approach.
As in 2012 every two months a piece of work will be produced, starting January 2013. Size of the work for 2013 will be A3 (30x42 cm approx or 12x17inches) either portrait or landscape.

Fragments....
My third piece has been a working sample for a larger abstract work I am finishing at the moment. I have tried to express the route travelled through the creative journey, discarding the fragments of old ideas and techniques and searching for the glimmers of inspiration that gather together to become the next design.
The fabric was coloured with procion dyes and some wax pigments then over laid with the 'fragments' of organza and painted and distressed fusible web. The 'glimmers' were scraps of gold leaf applied with ormaline.

There's huge movement in this- a real explosion and force.Lovely subtle colours as well. I shall look forward to seeing the large piece one day in the future! See you in Birmingham.
ReplyDeleteWish I was going to Birmingham again this year. . . . Sigh. . . . Anyway, your colors seem to glow from within this piece and the design is amazing. I love how you've captured so much energy! Great work.
